Today, as I walked into the office (as if they did not left the office) Sonia and Sven were still moving around the material samples received the night before. Once we all started up our computers Sven shared with me the final material selection for the Quooker fair stand for Downtown Design 2017 and I began to understand how the different combinations of red being used will not only compliment the Quooker brand red but echo subtle ideas such as complimenting the light on the tap which flashes when boiling water is ready.

The vibrancy of all these reds gives a feeling of dynamic energy which I think is well balanced by the choice of the grey felt fabric which the wall panels in the stand will be made from.

The following drawings I made included sectional details of product vitrines on the back wall of the stand, the seating sofas, and cabinet. I had to figure out what was the appropriate type of light and design that could serve in order to illuminate the tap in a specific way. Working on those drawings really made me think that every detail in the drawing counts, from the position of the tap to the dimensions and labels. It need to be carefully thought out and easy to understand with no room for mistakes as the furniture needs to be built properly.

The more I work on the Quooker stand project, the more I am convinced that this is the ideal tap everyone should use at home. A tap that instantly provides hot, cold and boiling water whenever you want!

Today, we had the perfect set up for lunch with a lighted candle and background music to our conversations about subjects from architectural buildings to the evolution of communication and books. As a fresh graduate these conversations on architecture and design and culture are fascinating to participate in.

After lunch we spoke about the intern blog, my compositions and formatting and how my entries should reflect my identity as a designer. It brought up the question in my head about who I really want to be as a designer and I feel I still have to learn a lot about myself.

Before leaving, Sonia and Sven surprised me with an Eid Gift, Alphonso Mango White chocolate, the one I had liked best at Mirzam chocolate makers. It was the end of this first week and I had not only enhanced my drawing and drafting skills but learnt already about numerous new aspects of architecture and interior design and realise my career is also in some ways about my lifestyle and the enthusiasm I can bring.
