Day #34 | It is when you start your day early and finish it late, you know you had a successful prod

As I decided I wanted to be here while the industrial area was quiet, today I arrived early in the morning to Alserkal Avenue.

Wandering between the different warehouses with no-one else going in and out gave me a chance to notice the creative and unique entrances of each company: the doors at Alserkal really stand out as they are all personalised and so different from the prefabricated steel building structures.

I also encountered the small side entrance linking to the back of Rem Koolhaas's building 'Concrete'; which is a building with a full height concrete exterior façade seeming to reflect the light. My curiosity to see what the interior could potentially look like beyond however was quickly halted by a security agent asking me to leave the alley. Sadly the interior museum-exhibition area is still under construction so I will have to wait.

I returned to SVENM and the full office day started. I am continuing yesterday's work on the upcoming hotel project in Berlin so I had the opportunity to practice more on ARCHICAD shortcuts and to work on more challenging interior elevations and sections. Dealing with the curved walls of the ground floor, including the hotel entrance, reception and lobby, was a new challenge.

After lunch, Sven shared with me the new exhibition segment for Quooker which SVENM has been awarded the design of for Downtown design Dubai 2017. I had never heard of Quooker before and of its revolutionizing kitchen experience but I was very keen to learn more about it as I was going to be generating interior elevations of the exhibition stand space. This feels great as my drawings will be sent to the contractor but I was concentrating so much on improving the elevations, I did not see the time passing until it was already 7 pm!

I cannot wait to meet the Client and to see the stand develop further, hopefully I will be on site for this in November!

At the end of the day, Sven reminded me that interior elevations need to be a combination of technical details that evolve from an innate sense of reality. How a space should be experienced, is the key question.
