I had a number of meetings today with printers who I was asked to find and contact for SVENM.
To welcome each supplier when the meetings began I offered each visitor water before explaining the previous SVENM print jobs. Sonia joined me for the meetings and guided the areas I was less confident in explaining.
As we all spoke I noted down the technical terms being used and started understanding in more depth that our choice of paper thickness and texture will really affect the final outcome of the print work.
It was also interesting to see the range of samples that the printers arrived with as this helped me understand how different companies reflect their ethos through print which includes not only design but multiple technical and quality related decisions.
At the close of each meeting we asked the printer company representatives to return with extra samples as the range Sonia wanted to see was in their less obvious range of papers and they had not brought these non-standard examples.
I saw in this moment that research and knowledge of what you are seeking pays off, if your design intention is to be distinct.
So, as these meetings are to be continued it seems that the product pages will have to wait before we can confirm the printing process. Stay tuned to see what we will end up with!
