Hey there! so this one is full of fun!

So as I mentioned last post we were going to have Iftar with Sonia and Sven at the Japanese Arabian Ramadan Tent. The atmosphere of the tent was absolutely calm and serene and was just the perfect match for a graceful Ramadan Outing.

We enjoyed a long conversation with Sonia and Sven about design and our future plans. One of her questions was like,"What would you describe the Dubai style as?"

The first thing I thought of was the fact that the houses I see in Dubai are pretty similar to the houses I saw in Saudi Arabia and Qatar when I used to live there. Nothing in specific but maybe something towards the decorative spectrum.

Leen had a completely opposite answer, which I kind of agree to as well even though it is a more recent trend. She explained that when she thinks of Dubai all she could think of is "...Skyscrapers" tall glass buildings covering the skyline and added to that " and a touch of modernity if not what has become the usual style in most houses."

One of the most interesting questions that Sonia asked were " if you could join a music band what would it be? My first answer of course was Turkish! then came in leens uber interesting dreams in life about being a backup dancer in a Lady Gaga concert .. hahah.

After a very enjoyable hour of Iftar, we walked around checking out the galleries and what they had been up to. Some of the ones we visited were TheFlip side, the only independent vinyl store in Dubai where there were really cool DJ sets and some sick beats. Another ones was Ikon House, which had models and miniatures of many of the chairs we created at University! one thing that was super exciting was that I got to see one of the most famous chairs by J Hans Wegner, a designer whom i had done a presentation about some of his work for furniture class. One of the shops we went into, we had previously visited before and that was... The chocolate factory! Named Mirzam, the place functions both as a factory where you can actually see all the processes of creating the chocolate through the glass wall, and a gallery or shop for selling the chocolate. Of course, what else do you do in a place like that other than going around eating from all the sample chocolate chunks as if it were your first time... haha.. Other shops were The Good life, which had a limited edition of many brand sneakers like Adidas and Nike and others; MD&F which had cool robotic gadgets and clocks with words instead of numbers!

It was a fun night and we all enjoyed each others company!

Keep reading to know more about what we do at SVEN|M!

So i thought these pictures were cool enough to be shown alone!
