Another office day! The day started off with huge excitement! I was given the task of modeling the snake charmer WITHIN 2 HOURS. I have to admit I was KIND OF freaking out! Hours passed by and Leen and I were working at our desks, she was busy with the plans for the FLO studio project, where she was redrawing the plans according to the demolished parts of the renovation.
Tick tock tick tock.. its 12, just when I was supposed to show Sven what I had come up with on my computer.. Luckily I had gained some more time to work on the model while he was busy with someone at his office. I was facing some problems with the model. For instance, I had never used curves in any of my previous designs, and so to model the curve of the table leg with such precision at the given radius was a bit hard for someone who has never used the fillet command! Where do you go? YOUTUBE.
I had previously checked out a tutorial about how to blend curves and pipe like structures the night before, however I never knew it would be so handy the next morning!
And so trial and error, some suggestions from Leen and my extensive efforts to understand what the guy on YouTube was saying paid off! Couple hours later, Sven came in to check on our progress and to gladly say, he was happy with the results however, I had to make some changes for the proportions of the table to make sense.
Meanwhile, Sonia asked me to send her the invitation layout for the upcoming ladies dinner event which she had previously asked me to design. Stereotypical me I added a lil’ lady clip art which was not the best option out there.. LOL
Couple hours later, as we were about to head out an check out the new executive office on the print, Sven came up to check on our final progress. After several adjustments, I was finally able to model the curves of the leg properly and we now had a proper glass snake charmer!
It was a pretty exciting task that ended up well and the results of the model were pleasing.
Unfortunately still can’t find that Brass finish I need to apply to the legs!

Now that was my version of the day.. Leen what about yours?
The moment I was introduced to the new project we will be working on and after looking at all those detailed plans, RCPS and interior elevations, I was suddenly reminded of Studio!
The project seemed challenging since the space was tight and was asking for a spacious feel to it and that’s when the real challenge comes in! Better yet, what was more challenging was the fact that i had to say goodbye to Rhino, the program I seem to be latching on to every time I need to design something. Perhaps being forced to use another program was the only way to get me introduced to something new.
we were given a small tutorial about how the program ARCHICAD works and from there forward I start regenerating those plans based on what was asked of me. I can definitly say that the more I use the program, the more accustomed and familiar I was getting. Bye Bye Rhino!
