The First day of the internship at SVEN M marked the beginning of a new and exciting summer experience for us. As it is our first internship at a design company, the day, from beginning to end was packed with a lot of what was going to be our ticket to the real world of the design industry!

The day kicked off at 11 am at the office, where we enjoyed a cup of tea and home-made cupcakes. The discussion we had with Sven and Sonia outlined an overall plan of what we were to be doing for the rest of the day and some broad outlines for the internship. #PASSION was the keyword of the discussion and without the passion that drives us to wake up the next morning with new ideas, we will simply not create.

We were then presented with the idea of creating this BLOG!

we brain stormed a lot of possibilities in which we can present our daily tasks and keep a record of them.. and so HERE WE GO!

We were given our very first challenge which takes us to the title of this entry: "How could you transform a deserted warehouse into a Ramadan tent?"

We were introduced to the Client who is the owner of CHI-KA a contemporary kimono and art space that reflects the Japanese culture in a modern take. And so, inspired by the culture of the shop, the Ramadan tent, that will soon be serving iftar for the public in the warehouse next door, will include several Asian features such as the use of bamboo sticks and imported Japanese Bonsai trees. During the construction phase that's been taking place, some partitions were built to house the preparation island and some will be extended to the outside to cover a wall of graffiti that disrupts the presentation of the project.

This is the poster for the Ramadan tent event and some process images of it.

Along the day, we got together one more time to have lunch after that we headed off to attend one of the most important Architecture and Design events in Dubai known as INDEX

We walked around and looked at the different products that are offered by local and international manufacturers and collected business cards and brochures from the different kiosks. Many items grabbed our attention and some of these include the pressed precious stone panels and the recycled glass films into little scented rocks!

Many interesting ideas and details are yet to come so keep reading our blog so you know what happens on day #2!
