A new day! actually this is the end of week 1! how exciting?! we have had such an exciting week full of lessons and experiences one of a kind, however, today I was about to learn a new one.. the hard way.
So after arriving at the office he day started off by editing those steel leg drawings and then Leen and I went on to visit the Leila Heller Gallery on the footprint, the biggest gallery in the UAE since 2015! We had a meeting with Jolaine Frizzell who is the director of the gallery in the UAE.
Jolaine met with us and spoke about the work of the gallery and told us about the history of how the Leila Heller came together. That gallery was designed by Omar Ghafour and it consists of 3 exhibition halls the house the works of different artists including BHQF, Tony Cragg and Marwan Sahmarani. Leen and I asked her a few questions and she answered to all of them with great enthusiasm and details. She told us about how the gallery brings in artists and designers from across the globe, emphasizing the importance of having a unified artistic community such as the one that brings the middle east with western art under one roof. Also stressed the fact that The gallery always seeks to represent artists and their work in their exhibition around the world.
One of the most interesting things about that gallery is that the director of the gallery hates to name to pieces, and so , for that reason he never allows for little brief texts to be added to describe the work but instead lets the work speak for itself, as well as they provide printouts at the door that explain to the public what the gallery contains.
My favourite stairs placed at the gallery.

After that Leen and I returned to our desks and I continued working on the table legs until it was time to take the drawings to the steel Contractor. Unfortunately the font on the drawings was super small and unreadable, something I hadn't noticed to change which was completely unacceptable. Sven was disappointed and pointed out my fatal mistake..
To title the day with a caption of "EMBARRASSING...❕❕"
Probably the LAST TIME I EVER use small font in my entire existence of being. Haha.. Lesson learnt!
Stay tuned to find out more about our learning Journey at SVEN|M!
